HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A dog has been shot and killed after attacking a woman in Henderson County.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunshots Friday afternoon in the 4900 block of Lost Pine Drive.

Sheriff Ray Nutt says a 24-year old woman was injured when she was attacked by her neighbor's pit bull. The dog attacked her when she wen to visit the neighbor and stepped into the yard. Her father heard the attack and went to help.

The father and daughter were able to pin the dog down. Another neighbor heard the screams, came out of their home and shot the dog. The owner fled the scene after the shooting.

Nutt says officials are not sure if anyone will be charged.

The shooting is under investigation and the woman was transported to the hospital for treatment.
