Sheriff's office investigating allegations of inappropriate contact at E. Texas camp

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Smith County Sheriff's Office is investigating allegations of inappropriate contact at Sky Ranch.

According to initial reports with the Smith County Sheriff's Office, a child woke up to find a man lying beside the child in a bed at Sky Ranch. The sheriff's office says the man ran into the woods.

They add that a cell phone was reported stolen from another cabin.

Police say the child was examined by medical staff.

At this time, investigators do not believe the man worked at the ranch; they are still investigating.
