TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler police have identified the homicide victim involved in a shooting Monday morning.

Police say Tyrone "Ty" Lee Underwood, 24, of Tyler was found shot Monday morning after reports of wreck in Tyler.

According to authorities, around 2:47 a.m. police were dispatched to an apparent traffic accident in the 400 block of W. 24th Street after a citizen reported a vehicle struck a telephone pole at that location. The caller also told police her children heard what they believed to be several gun shots.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the driver of the vehicle had been shot. Underwood was pronounced dead at the scene.

Debra Grant lives two blocks from where the vehicle was discovered, and woke-up Monday morning to the flashing lights of police units.

"I mean nothing out of the 46 years we've been in this neighborhood, we've never had anything like this to go, to happen, Grant said, "I'm shocked."
