SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Police have identified two people killed Thursday in an apparent murder-suicide in Smith County.

Delithro Rodriquez Bell, 41, and and his wife, Mechelle Evette Hall-Bell, 35, were killed in the incident.The couple had been married since Aug. 2008.

About 10:10 a.m., police responded to reports that a woman had been shot by a man at a location in the 23000 block of County Road 244, off of Highway 31 just east of Tyler. The victims were reportedly laying in the middle of the road near a parked car, with a weapon near their bodies.

A witness told deputies they saw Delithro Bell shoot his wife with a shotgun.

The Bells had recently lived in the Jackson Heights area, a few miles from the scene.

Smith County officials believe the shooting was a murder-suicide but are still investigating the crime. Both were dead when officials arrived at the scene.

The bodies will be sent for an autopsy.

The case is the first homicide of 2015 in Smith County.
