Trial date set for suspect charged in Mineola man's death

MINEOLA, TX (KLTV) - A trial date has been set for a man charged in a Mineola man's death.

Jason Russell Walters, 41, of Mineola, is set to appear in court at 9 a.m., Aug. 17. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m., June 11, with Judge G. Timothy Boswell presiding over the hearing and the trial.

Walters' charges stem from a fatal shooting in June of 2014 in which 19-year-old Christopher James Griffin was killed. Griffin was shot outside the EZ Mart on North Pacific Street in Mineola

At the time of the incident, police issued a warrant for Walters' arrest. Walters turned himself in to Wood County officials. He posted a $250,000 bond and was released later that day.
