Victim identified in deadly early morning shooting

Tyler police are investigating a shooting Saturday morning that left one man dead.

At 9:45 a.m., Police responded to the Walgreens on Loop 323 near Hwy 64 West. Michael Caldwell, 31, of Tyler, was found dead upon police arrival. A suspect, whose name is being withheld due to the ongoing criminal investigation, stayed on scene and spoke with detectives.

We are told no one else was injured and no arrests have been made. No employee of Walgreens was involved.

The victim has been sent for autopsy. The suspect has been released pending further investigation.
