A man wanted in connection with the death of a Mineola teen turned himself in on Wednesday and then posted bond.
Police had issued a warrant for Jason Russell Walters, 41, who was wanted in connection with the incident. Russell turned himself in Wednesday to Wood County officials. He posted a $250,000 bond and was released the same day.
The victim, Christopher James Griffin, 19, was
at a convenience store turned violent. Police say an argument that started inside the convenience store spilled into the alley behind the store.
Police say when they arrived, they found Griffin laying in the alley with a gunshot wound to his neck. Authorities say Walters was still standing nearby holding a gun. However, Griffin's friends insist Griffin was not the one arguing with Walters. Police later said that Griffin wasn't involved in the argument inside the store.
At the time of the incident,
about the teen and the community said it would try to come out of the tragedy stronger.
