TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Already preparing for his junior season with the Texas Longhorns, Dalton Santos is pushing his body to the limit at APEC in Tyler. There's a smile on his face.
"I'm glad to be back at work," said Santos. " Doing my thing and knowing that my mom's alright."
Dalton's mother Vista Santos recently had open heart surgery. Vista is back on her feet. Dalton is thankful his biggest fan is going to be okay.
"I'm just glad things went they way they did," said Santos. "She's (Vista) looking good, feeling good. And it's just a blessing."
Dalton is still overwhelmed by all the support his family received. Vista had no health insurance, but more than 66 thousand dollars were raised to help pay for the life saving procedure.
"It's amazing what people have done and how they came together for my family," said Santos. "Just reaching out to us to help us. I can't even fathom it. It's incredible."
Now Dalton can once again focus on football and impressing his new head coach Charlie Strong.
"I think guys are feeding off what he's bringing to the program," said Santos. "I'd watch out for us. Them Texas Longhorns are going to be pretty dang good."
