GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify human remains found in East Texas in 2002.
Gregg County Sheriff Maxey Cerliano says the remains were found by a road construction crew on Highway 135 south of Swamp City Road near Gladewater. The remains, which include a skull,, were examined by a forensic anthropologist who determined they belonged to a white female, between 17 and 25 years of age. The female was about 5'1" to 5'4" tall with a slim or petite build and an unrepaired cleft palate. Based on the condition of the bones, authorities believe the female died about two years earlier, in 2000.
A scan of the skull was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Virginia a few months ago for reconstruction using 3D technology.
Anyone with information regarding this Jane Doe is asked to contact Kirk Haddix at (903) 236-8411 or Crime Stoppers at (903) 236-STOP.
