LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A suspect in the burglary of a pawn shop in Longview is in police custody on Friday morning.
Longview police say the juvenile suspect was arrested, but they are still looking for information on the stolen items, which include six shotguns.
Police officers responded to an incident at Cherokee Pawn Shop at 2725 Gilmer Road just after midnight on Thursday. Police say a truck believed to be stolen drove into the pawn shop.
Store owner Gary Weaver said six shotguns were taken from his store. He is hopeful the guns will be recovered quickly. Weaver said the store will remain open despite the damage.
Manager Jerry Weaver said the thieves attempted to cut power to the store in order to take out the alarm system, but accidentally cut the cable to the air conditioning system instead. He says the suspects abandoned the stolen truck inside the shop, taking off on foot.
Police responded to the scene within two minutes of the alarm sounding.
