UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The wife of a Gilmer former pastor serving six life sentences in prison for the sexual assault of a child was sentenced today for failing to prevent the abuse.

Rosie Evans Fluellen of Gilmer pled guilty in Upshur County Court this morning this morning to a charge of criminal responsibility to aggravated assault of a child, according to Prosecutor Natalie Miller.

Fluellen's husband, Hugo Fluellen, was sentenced in October to six consecutive life sentences after a jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting a child for more than a decade.

Evidence presented in Hugo Fluellen's trial showed he began molesting his victim when she was in second grade. Witnesses testified Fluellen would often molest his victim on the way home from church after she had attended Sunday School and sang in the choir.

Officials said Hugo molested his victim until late in 2012, when he was arrested on several counts of Indecency With a Child, Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Sexual Assault of a Child.

Evidence also established that the defendant was the father of the victim's baby, which was born last year. Today, the victim is 18-years-old.

Miller said that although Rosie Fluellen was not the primary offender, she had a legal duty to prevent the offense.

Rosie Fluellen must serve at least 14 years before being eligible for parole.
