WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Wood County Sheriff's Department announced the addition of its newest deputy and, no bones about it, this rookie officer has a nose for police work.
Copper is an eight-week-old Bloodhound puppy. An American Kennel Club-registered dog, Copper will be the first member of the Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team. Even though Copper has a lot of training in front of him Sheriff Jim Brown says the pup is looking forward to finding lost children and tracking down criminals.
"If just one child or elderly person is saved, the program will be with all of the effort," said Brown.
Browns added that the search and rescue team will benefit the entire area as Copper and his other teammates will assist across East Texas where needed.
