Former Policeman Sentenced For Tampering

An East Texas law enforcement officer has confessed to erasing part of his patrol car dashboard video, and has been sentenced for tampering with evidence. This after he told an arrested suspect, he was not under arrest, while trying to convince him to take a breathalyzer test back in December 2003.
Tommy Simmons admitted to tampering with evidence in the drunk driving case. It's a class A misdemeanor. The 38-year-old former White Oak police officer has been sentenced to one year probation and 48 hours of community service.
