The seminar took place in the Maude Cobb Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The free event featured a panel of individuals from the business world who explained how hiring and retaining individuals with disabilities positively impacted their bottom line.

There was also a panel of individuals with disabilities who spoke to the change in their lives as a result of being successfully employed.

The keynote speaker for the event was a veteran from the Texas Veterans Commission who spoke about the importance of hiring veterans with disabilities.

Event organizer Karen Holt said the seminar today really concentrated on hiring new veterans who are just getting off duty.

"With so many of them coming home from war, it's really important for those employers to know that there are businesses and organizations out there to assist them in hiring these veterans with disabilities and really anyone with a disability," Holt said.
