UNION GROVE, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas teacher accused of improper conduct from three decades ago, has resigned his coaching position.

Union Grove ISD teacher and coach Steven Mulkey was accused of sexual assault of students dating back to an alleged 1980 incident.

We spoke with Mulkey's attorney "Scrappy" Holmes this afternoon who says Mulkey has resigned from the district.

It was July, that Mulkey was placed on paid administrative leave from the district pending an investigation.

Former students accused Mulkey of sexual assault from 30-years ago when Mulkey was first teaching at the district.

Holmes says Mulkey has had his career and life destroyed by slanderous lies, and is forced to resign because he does not have the financial resources to fight the accusations.
