ATHENS, TX (KLTV) - Standing on the steps of the Henderson County Courthouse, we saw these children praying.

We climbed the steps and turned around and saw an endless crowd of supporters--here to show their faith. And, they say this nativity scene stays.

"With one voice as Christians all coming together to say we believe enough in our faith that we're willing to take a stand up and defend that faith," said Pastor Nathan Lorick of First Baptist Church in MalaKoff.

Jerri Allen also came to show her support.

"I came out in defense of us having our nativity scene. I believe it's our right as Christians to display that," she told us.

Pam Holcomb says today is a message to future generations.

"I wanted to bring my son so that he would see that we have to stand for what we believe," she said.

The people of this community say today is just the beginning--the beginning of a fight to keep the "meaning" of Christmas, in Christmas.
