Meals on Wheels is helping residents escape the Tyler heat

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Since we can't catch a break with these high temperatures, some East Texans are making sure everyone has a chance to stay cool.

Meals on Wheels workers said they are going beyond their usual duties of delivering food by helping some elderly and disabled purchase and install air conditioning.

Some members of the community contacted Meals on Wheels and asked them for help.

Since the group makes daily deliveries of meals to the elderly and disabled, they noticed some of their clients were without air conditioning.

These community do-gooders took it upon themselves, to not only purchase these new air conditioners, but install them as well.

Residents are relieved to have more than a few fans to keep them cool this summer. To keep everything from becoming too costly, Meals on Wheels workers purchased energy efficient units.
