Juvenile arrested for auto burglary

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - On July 8, 2011 at about 4:06 a.m. the Tyler Police Department received a Suspicious Person call from the 500 block of Eisenhower Drive regarding two individuals attempting to burglarize the caller's vehicle. While en route to the scene officers were informed that the suspects had fled the area after being scared away by the caller. Once on scene officers began checking the neighborhoods surrounding Eisenhower and located two individuals carrying a black bag and matching the description provided by the caller. When officers approached the suspects, one fled on foot and managed to evade apprehension following a thorough search of the area. The second suspect, a juvenile, was detained by officers on scene.

As officers continued their investigation they learned the property located inside the black bag carried by the juvenile suspect was stolen. Officer located the owners of the property, which was promptly returned. The juvenile was taken into custody and later transported to the Smith County Juvenile Attention Center where he was charged with one count of Burglary of a Vehicle. Through further investigation officers managed to identify the suspect that fled and warrants for Evading Arrest and Burglary of a Vehicle are forthcoming. The juvenile taken into custody for Burglary of a Vehicle was release to a grandparent and not transported to the Smith County Attention Center.
