PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - He walked into the store with a baseball bat and started making demands. That is how witnesses described an East Texas robbery. It happened Friday night shortly after nine at the Family Dollar Store on Oak Street in southwest Palestine.

Police say clerks had just closed the store when a man wearing a homemade blue ski mask and socks on his hands walked inside.

The man forced an employee to the back where she says he hit her in the stomach.

An employee who heard the commotion called 9-1-1, but the man grabbed the cash and ran.

"We do have some surveillance video but we're still looking at that to try and reenact the story and statements from everyone involved," said Lt. Jeff Powell, with the Palestine Police Department. "Not very fearful if he's going to come in the store by himself so that's a little odd."

Police are still looking for the suspect described as a 6' tall black male. He was last seen wearing a homemade blue ski mask, white undershirt, black shoes, pants, and t-shirt with a metal bat.
