The East Texas Food Bank is expanding its services. They have announced the opening of a new hub in Longview at the corner of Signal Hill Drive and Loop 281 near Estes Parkway.
The East Texas Food Bank Garden is a partnership between the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and the East Texas Food Bank, and Thursday they added a new partner.
About 18 to 19 teams showed up, according to Garrison Mayor Keith Yarbrough. He said this year’s barbeque cook-off saw a greater turn out compared to previous years.
The “canstruction” was made possible by donations from Humana as part of a food drive sponsored by the company. Over 1600 cans were used to complete the model which was created to promote awareness of veteran food insecurity.
