Rose City Airfest will be held at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport Friday, just in time for the Independence Day weekend. Before the festivities kick off, though, there was a pilot reception on Thursday to honor veterans.

A fire has left Triumphant Life Church in Hudson a total loss after pastor Rick Hanes noticed smoke coming from the roof vents shortly after 6:15 Wednesday evening.
The Northeast Texas Public Health District now considers six of the seven counties they cover to be experiencing a moderate level of community spread when it comes to COVID-19.
“The goal is always to better reach our community, have a better source of communicating with the community,” Bethanie Mehl said. “The goal is to stay as transparent as possible in times of emergencies. This is going to be one of the best ways to communicate with the whole community.”
The 51-year-old Jackson is the court’s 116th justice and she took the place Thursday of the justice she once worked for. Justice Stephen Breyer’s retirement took effect at noon.
