Man arrested after allegedly planning to abduct children on New Summerfield campus

NEW SUMMERFIELD, Texas (KLTV) - A man is in custody Monday after allegedly planning to carry out a child abduction on their school campus.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson, law enforcement received a tip that a man was planning to abduct children from their school Monday. He said the children were part of a child custody situation.
Dickson said that as a result of the tip and quick response from New Summerfield police, the sheriff’s office and Jacksonville police, the man was taken into custody by NSPD without incident. He did not draw his weapon or show it to anyone, though the sheriff said one was located in his vehicle.
No children were ever involved due to the timing of the arrest.
New Summerfield’s campus was on lockdown for a short time, but returned to regular school activity at pickup time.
