City of Longview nears completion on new entryway

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Another project that stemmed from the 2018 bond election is nearing completion in Longview.

The city felt the intersection of Mobberly Avenue and High Street needed to be reworked to make it more driver friendly. The Longview Entryway is part of that project. Longview signage and landscaping will be put in place. City Spokesman Shawn Hara said the light poles now in place are capable of multiple colors and represent the pine trees of East Texas.

“It accomplishes the improvement of traffic flow. But also it’s going to be an entryway right onto Mobberly Avenue right there which will soon be the Mobberly Complete Street project that’s going to be going on. So, we’re going to see some progress going on actually pretty soon,” Hara said.

Hara said that project will turn Mobberly Avenue into a pedestrian-friendly street with sidewalks, bike paths and landscaping.
