City of Kilgore plans addition to Texan Theater

KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - Kilgore’s Texan Theater will soon have an upgrade.

A large grassy area, part of the Texan’s lot, will be reworked into a park available to the public unless an event is taking place. Texan Theater Facilities Manager Chip Hale says there are plans that will feature shaded picnic tables and a game area as well as an interactive children’s wall. The 300 thousand dollar project will be paid for with grants.

“The film festival, Reel East Texas, we’re focusing on the Texan Yard, with a design company out of Longview named Moto Design. They’ve helped us create what we feel will be a really cool outdoor community space. We’re calling it the Texan Yard,” Hale said.

There are also plans to make an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant balcony with an elevator and put in extra storage space below it.
