Tyler’s Green Acres Baptist Church introduces Español campus
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler recently launched a service that serves the Spanish-speaking community in East Texas.
Michael Gossett, the lead pastor at the church, says a Spanish-speaking service has been in the works for about two years.
“Which means it’s everything that Green Acres is, except it’s going to be in Spanish. Which means all of our worship, the preaching, the teaching, we have small groups all that will be in Spanish,” Gossett said.
Fernando Mangieri, the pastor for the service, was born in Argentina. He comes from a long line of pastors in his family and has been serving in Dallas for the past four years. He says it’s important to connect with the Hispanic community.
“The Hispanic, they have different struggles. They feel alone and they miss family. So, we’re here to be a family for them, to be a church that is for the community, for the one who is alone, for the one who is having a tough time and missing family. We want them to feel the love of Jesus through the church,” Mangieri said.
If you come to the service and don’t speak Spanish, they offer devices to translate the words for you. The church will also offer opportunities to cross over into English services and Bible school groups for those who are bilingual.
Jorge and Nancy Enriquez both attended the English services for many years.
“But now we get to attend in our native language, so it’s more special for us,” Jorge said.
Nancy says it’s been a way to bring all different people together.
“For me it’s the different Latin cultures that are here, that are coming all together. and also Anglos coming to learn also, I really like that. We’re all together, it’s one church in all,” she said.
The services take place every Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Crosswalk Center at Green Acres Baptist Church.
