‘Nobody wins:’ Sheriff confirms Wells victim died from multiple gunshot wounds
CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Officials are investigating a shooting that occurred on Mitchell Street in the city of Wells Monday morning.
According to a press release from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, around 10:15 a.m., Chief Harold Rapsilver responded to a call about a shooting on Mitchell Street in Wells. Rapsilver was able to detain the suspect while Wells Fire Department and EMS attempted life saving measures on the victim.
Authorities say the deceased male victim is a 42-year-old Wells resident, but a name has not been released at this time.
Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson confirmed the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds.
“The family of the deceased is here on scene and visiting with them and working through it,” said Dickson.
The victim’s body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
The alleged shooter is identified as 56-year-old Wells resident Noel Price, who has been arrested on a charge of murder.
Dickson said they have not discovered a motive yet, but confirmed authorities believe the shooting was done intentionally.
Dickson said more than one adult was inside the home while the altercation took place outside.
