Traveling ‘water circus’ comes to Tyler with aquatic acrobatics
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A giant circus tent is up in the parking lot of Broadway Square Mall in Tyler. Cirque Italia will hold their first opening performance tonight at 7:30.
Fifty-five performers from around the world make up the show’s cast.
Roxana Midi, a performer from Romania, says she loves the opportunity to travel around America performing.
“By working in the circus, brings a lot of emotions from the people, so I like to take their emotions, their energy, and kind of like a recycling process, take them from them and give them back,” says Midi.
Midi says she loves what she does as she dances through the air and seeks to show something new and better in each performance.
“People are leaving here with a big smile, full of energy and well pleased,” Midi said.
Hector Pazaran, an archery and acrobatic performer from Mexico, comes from a circus family where his father was a trapeze flyer. He got his start on stage at the age of three as a clown.
Pazaran says what keeps him going is seeing the eyes of people in the audience light up during his performance.
“In those instances we’re like, kinda see the people and we can see their faces like, their like ‘oh my God he’s going to fall, this is dangerous’, you know,” says Pazaran. “That’s what I love the most and make them happy and that’s our main goal, you know, make them forget about everything else outside and just keep it focused on the show today.”
Cirque Italia will hold shows starting Thursday night through Sunday afternoon.
