GUN BARREL CITY, Texas (KLTV) - A firefighter passed away at his home in Sulphur Springs on Saturday.

“Gun Barrel City Firefighter Micah Swanson, ID 4111, passed away at his residence in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on Saturday, December 3,” said Fire Chief Joseph Lindaman in a social media post. “Micah joined the Gun Barrel City Fire Department in July of 2021. He was a valued member of the department and had a passion for serving the citizens of Gun Barrel City. Micah leaves behind his wife and three children. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. We will provide an update once funeral arrangements have been made.”

The fire department has asked the public to keep Micah, his family, and the Gun Barrel City Fire Department in their prayers.

Payne Springs Fire Department, which also lost a member this week, expressed their sympathy in a social media post. “While we mourn over the loss of one of our members so does our mutual aid partner and friends at Gun Barrel City Fire. Our departments work together all of the time. Micah was a great person and a very good fireman. He is going to be missed greatly. We send out our thoughts and prayers to GBC Fire and to Micah’s family and friends. We are here for you as needed.”

“This weekend and the last couple of weeks has been tough for several departments in Henderson County,” the PSFR chief said in the post. “Just recently both Coffee City Fire and Tool Fire have lost members as well. If you are friends or family of a local firefighter take a moment to check on them and make sure they are OK even if they appear to be fine.”
