Man dies after being struck by train near downtown Tyler

Police spokesman Andy Erbaugh said the crash happened at 9:04 a.m. He said a person was lying on the tracks on the bridge.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Tyler police said a man has died after being struck by a train near downtown Monday.

East Texas News at 6.

According to police, at around 9:04 a.m. Tyler Police Officers responded to the railroad overpass at Bonner/Locust on report of a train striking a pedestrian. Railroad officials had contacted Tyler PD about the incident.

EMS transported the man to UT Health on Beckham where he died of his injuries. His identification is being withheld until family can be notified.

Police spokesman Andy Erbaugh said the person was lying on the tracks on the bridge.

Tyler police and firefighters have responded to an incident involving a pedestrian and train at the intersection of Bonner Avenue and Locust Street.

This case is still under investigation.
