United Way of Smith County sets 2022 fundraising goal of $2.1M

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - United Way of Smith County President John Gaston talks about the challenge of meeting the needs of the community.

United Way is primarily a fundraising organization that supports various agencies and local businesses in Tyler.

The funds were acquired through campaign rallies and donations with businesses in Tyler.

Funds acquired will go towards a select group of 26 non-profit agencies supported by United Way.

“Last year when we had break through and finished at a little over 2 million when we had a goal of a million and nine to be over two million is exciting and it will be a challenge cause there are always variables,” says United Way of Smith County president, John Gaston.

Each year one in four people living in Smith County are helped through the efforts of the local non-profit programs funded by the United Way of Smith County.
