Tyler City Council approves $1M for convention center purchases
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The Rose Complex Convention Center is one step closer to completion.
On Wednesday, the Tyler City Council approved spending about $1 million for nine items to be used in the Rose Complex Conference Center.
The items include furniture, computer network equipment, and Wi-Fi equipment.
Deputy City Manager Stephanie Franklin said the equipment will advance communication throughout the center. “You could have people in other cities that are connected to what’s happening in the conference center, so making sure it’s state of the art, technology-wise.”
Franklin said the new furniture will be modern, but it will reflect Tyler’s history. The theme is: “Garden, hotel-style,” Franklin said.
“That chic, garden feel because we are at the rose garden,” Franklin said. “The building was somewhat modeled after a garden type of facility, especially with all the glass.”
The city hopes the complex will bring more visitors and create economic growth.
“When we’re working to compete for conferences, we offer this unique complex that sort of represents the culture of our community and our area,” Franklin said.
The goal is to have the complex complete by the end of October.
