LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - An independent East Texas investigative team is on the hunt for a vehicle that fled the scene of a hit-and-run accident that left a woman seriously injured.

The incident happened at 11:15 p.m. May 5 in Longview at the intersection of McCann Street and Glencrest. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a female victim lying in the roadway having been struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on McCann Road. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses have told police the suspect vehicle was a white Ford F-150 pickup with a toolbox in the bed and possibly has damage to the front of the vehicle.

The victim, being represented by counsel, said the truck hit her, then backed up and sped away. Though investigators have looked at every available security video from surrounding businesses, none of them give a clear image of the truck’s license plate.

Tamer Abouras of the Sloan Law Firm, the attorney representing the victim, talks about the efforts the independent team to find clues to the driver’s identity.

“This person stopped after hitting this young lady. Backed up, went around her then sped away,” Abouras says.

The team has found a new image that they are very interested in; taken by a bystander on the night of the incident, it shows numerous people at the scene recording with iPhones, and they need them to come forward.

“There was someone here at the Cefco who managed to get a blurry shot of the truck. Because the windows on it are tinted, we don’t know the race, gender, age of this driver,” Abouras says.

The truck was likely damaged, so the team is checking with body repair shops.

“Probably damage to the hood. Possibly the fender,” says Abouras.

Though investigators have looked at every available security video from surrounding businesses, none have given a clear image of the trucks license plate.

“Hitting someone then fleeing the scene is a crime. The injuries and damages caused to her are something we’re looking to get justice for on her behalf,” Abouras says.

Anyone with information on the truck or driver in this case is asked to call law enforcement or the Sloan Law Firm.
