LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - The City of Longview is asking for help providing for the homeless.

They want to fill storage bins with immediate needs items to distribute to the homeless. They will put together homeless outreach bags to be distributed at Homeless Resource Day. The event brings together nonprofits, government agencies and health organizations as a sort of one-stop shop for those in need.

“You come in and you can activate, get services, find out about services, get a haircut. If you have pets, get your pets vaccinated. And we do it all in this one day so we can help give them maybe the jump start they need to make their lives better,” said Longview Community relations Director Laura Hill.

They will also be offering COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone who would like one. Homeless Resource Day is January 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Longview Exhibit Center. Donations can be dropped off at the Longview Public Library.
