MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - Downtown Marshall is continuing to get a facelift.

This is the second phase of the downtown revitalization effort. The first phase was on Washington Street. Phase two is in the 100 block of East Houston Street across from the historic courthouse.

Beginning Monday, bricks and sidewalks are being removed, so they can be replaced with a level, ADA-compliant walkway. However, progress can be a little disruptive.

“There are still several parking spots available for the citizens who have concerns about that. And we’re working with the businesses and a couple of them have adjusted their entrances to the back instead of the front just because of the construction that’s going on currently - the demolishing of the concrete,” said Communications Coordinator Jasmine Rios.

Barring weather issues, the city expects this part of the project to be complete in about four months.
