Vehicle rear ends Tyler school bus at railroad crossing; no students injured
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - No students were injured following a crash involving a vehicle that rear-ended a Tyler school bus Thursday morning.
According to officials, around 7:15 a.m., Tyler ISD bus 43 was stopped at the railroad tracks on S. Loop 323 near Old Troup Highway when the second vehicle behind the bus failed to stop and struck the vehicle in front of it, creating a chain reaction with that car rear ending the bus.
According to law, school buses must stop at all railroad tracks.
Officials with TISD confirm that 10 students were on the bus, one middle school student and nine high school students. No one on the school bus was injured in the crash.
Tyler ISD officials say this week is School Bus Safety week and this incident is a reminder for motorists to be aware of the traffic laws regarding to school buses.
