LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - The Longview Police Department would like Longview residents to take part in National Night Out in October.

Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. they’re holding a drive-through kickoff party at Maude Cobb Convention Center. Normally it’s an inside party, but police decided they’d hold a drive-through to keep it safe. Driving through the breezeway at Maude Cobb, residents can sign up to make the party official, and pick up free items for the party.

“You’ll get presented a yard sign for your yard saying that your party is here for your neighborhood. You’ll also be given little things that you can do to make your party better,” said Brandon Thornton with Longview Police.

National Night Out is held on October 6. Police will visit some of the parties just to meet residents, which helps establish a relationship with first responders.
