Longview Bodacious Bar-B-Q reopens after 2020 fire
LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Nine months after a fire threatened to close them for good, a popular East Texas restaurant is back in business.
As early as 9:30, people were lining up for the reopening of the ‘Bodacious Bar-B-Que on 6th street in Longview. Including members of the Bodacious founding family.
“It’s big and it’s emotional. When this fire occurred, I woke up in the night actually and found out the next day that we had the big fire. Times have been tough,” said Robin Lindsey-Hightower, daughter of Bodacious Bar-B-Que founders.
The popular restaurant across from the medical center, had struggled through Covid lockdowns, and then in September 2020, fire ravaged the roof, kitchen and pit room.
Putting owner Shannon Fell, and employees out of work.
“For this to happen right before Thanksgiving was devastation to Shannon and the whole Bodacious family,” Robin says.
After extensive repair and remodeling, the first day open in almost 10 months was greeted by a rush of loyal customers.
“We’ve been waiting for this day. It’s always good its always consistent, good place to be. I like the atmosphere and the ladies are so nice,” said customer David Dodgen.
“This specific store has been held in many hands of people we love like uncles and grandfathers. So it’s really special that Shannon has decided to continue on,” said Robins daughter, Madilynne Lindsey-Halling.
For owner Shannon Fell, the trek though adversity and the long wait is finally over.
“Oh it’s great,” she said.
The location will have new hours of operation: 10:30 am to 8-pm, Monday through Saturday.
