Gregg County Sheriff’s Office discovers stolen mail, IDs on theft suspect

KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - A suspect arrested in connection with theft was found to have ID’s and mail belonging to others, according to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.

Benjamin Lynn Baker, 33, of Longview was detained by deputies relating to a theft off of Hwy 149 in Kilgore that happened around 6 a.m., Thursday. Baker’s vehicle was spotted at the Best Value Inn on Hwy 259 in Kilgore.

Deputies found marijuana, methamphetamine, and a pipe with residue, along with a bag containing mail and ID’s not belonging to Baker, according to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.

Baker was charged with possession, theft of mail, fraud possession of identifying items, and burglary. Baker is being held on a collective bond of $18,000.00.
