Longview home destroyed, 3 pets dead following fire

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Longview firefighters responded to a house fire where three family pets died and the home is a total loss according to Kevin May from the Longview Fire Department.

The family left their home at the 100 block of E. Melton Street at 9 a.m., the fire occurred Tuesday afternoon.

The fire started to spread to the home next door but was brought under control, that house has heat damage but no fire damage according to May.

Longview Fire responded with three engines, 2 ladder trucks, 4 response vehicles, May said this is a typical response with the goal being to have 21 people at the scene within five to seven minutes.

E. Melton Street is blocked as firefighters continue to completely extinguish the fire.
