TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Air Rover is joining the fight to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
KLTV’s Dante Nuñez explains how Air Rover is helping East Texas businesses in need.
With over 3 million confirmed total cases of COVID-19 across the country, one East Texas company decided to manufacture air protection systems to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
This company is providing units to active COVID-19 locations like California, New York, Chicago, and more.
Air rover in Tyler has been creating custom-built machines for NASA and the military for over 30 years. On top of that, now with the COVID-19 pandemic, they’ve created an air protection system that can serve any business.
“We do air handling all the time, that’s what we specialize in. We looked at what was needed, this is a product we can build. It’s something we’re familiar with, it’s a matter of putting it together in a package that works for the public,” Air Rover HVAC application sales engineer, David Ferguson said.
The unit provides hospital quality air by using two filters and UV light to remove airborne virus particles.
“We’ve got a three-stage process where we are doing our best to mitigate the risk. We’re taking the virus and bringing it to us. Killing it, trapping it, and removing it from the air stream.”
Ferguson explains why this product comes at a crucial time.
“No matter where you go, a department store, a restaurant, everybody is diligent about cleaning surfaces. What you don’t see is people taking care of the air and their building and that’s where we are trying to step in and help and give a solution.”
He also says he’s glad to help businesses try and combat COVID-19
“It feels good to be able to do that and to say that this isn’t our normal business it’s not what we were doing three months ago, we weren’t thinking that we were going to start making air purifiers but to know that today we now have that business to help companies big and small, it feels real good.”
A recipient from New York describes how this product is beneficial to him and his staff.
“The APS2000 is a game changer in this respect. We are able to provide commercial tenants the ability to have UV cleaning, HEPA filtration and also carbon filtration for any odors at a 99.9999% disinfection rate. The need for clean air is paramount and with the APS2000 we provide folks a chance to return to work knowing their air is not the issue,” Comfort Zone Mechanical, NYC, Kevin McGowan said.
All parts are made and distributed out of Tyler.
Ferguson says they’ve sold more than 40 units since the beginning of June.
