LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Update: The Longview Fire Department is investigating a fatal house fire that happened early Tuesday morning in the 400 block of Davis Street.
Firefighters responded to the house shortly before 5 a.m. Flames were coming from the windows, doors and the backside of the house when they arrived, according to Longview Fire Marshal Kevin May.
One person was found dead inside the house. Their identity has not been released.
“At this time, the only information that we have is the one victim inside,” May said. “Because it was a fatality, we are getting some extra resources in. We’ve asked for help from the Gregg County Fire Marshal’s Office as well as the police department’s investigation unit. That way we have more eyes on the scene and we’re able to hopefully determine what caused this fire quicker.”
The Longview Fire Department is also investigating two suspicious fires that happened earlier this month.
On April 12, a fire burned the Alpine Laundry in the 1400 block of Alpine Road. A second fire at a building at the corner of Louisiana Street and East Marshall Avenue happened on April 19. May previously said investigators believe that fire was intentionally set.
As far Tuesday’s fatal fire, May said it’s too early in the investigation to know of it is related to those previous two fires.
