CORRIGAN, Texas (KTRE) - The Corrigan-Camden ISD school board made it official Tuesday night, hiring Brett Ratliff as their next head football coach/ Athletic Director.
In a letter to his former district, Ratliff made the news known Tuesday morning that he would be heading back to East Texas.
Ratliff graduated from Corrigan in 1999. He graduated from Auburn University. His first coaching stop was an assistant coach for College Park in the Woodlands. He then was the offensive coordinator for Caney Creek High School in the Conroe school district. In 2012 he landed his first head coaching job in New Diana. After four years in East Texas he went to Navasota and served as an assistant for season before being hired as the head coach and Athletic Director at Hondo ISD. He took over a Hondo team that was 1-9. They went 15-20 under his leadership, making the playoffs three straight years and winning one district title and two bi-district titles. Every varsity team at Hondo so far this year had made the playoffs. Twenty-two of his athletes have gone on to play college sports.
Ratliff will take over for Seven Armstrong who resigned in February after 25 years at the district. The Bulldogs are riding a 22-year streak of not missing the playoffs. Ratliff was part of those beginning years.
