EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - UPDATE: A new case of COVID-19 has been reported in Rusk County.

According to Rusk County OEM, this brings the confirmed number of cases in Rusk County up to two.

PREVIOUS: Smith County has announced there are now 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.

From Smith County:

There are 14 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Smith County as of Tuesday, March 24 at 12 p.m.* Evidence of community spread of the COVID-19 virus has been found in our community.

There are no COVID-19 related fatalities within Smith County as of Tuesday, March 24 at 12 p.m.

Please note that as test results are reported from private labs, this number may change and an additional release will be sent upon notification to the Northeast Texas Public Health District.

Confirmed cases in Smith County: 14

PREVIOUS STORY: Hopkins County has announced a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the county.

According to the Hopkins County, Texas Emergency Management Facebook page, the Texas Department of State Health Services is working the case.

They ask people to continue to follow the CDC’s recommended guidelines.
