SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Crews are on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 20.
UPDATE: As of 9:45 p.m., one lane has reopened:
According to DPS, the crash is located near Joy Wright Mt. Rd. in Smith County and both eastbound lanes have been closed as a result of the crash. Sabine Fire Chief Richard Sisk says that eastbound traffic is shut down from Joy Wright Mountain Rd. all the way to Barber Road. Traffic is being diverted to the overpass at Mile Marker 579, which is Joy-Wright Mountain Road, or CR 3111. Sisk said that if you are headed eastward to Longview, you should find an alternate route due to the amount of congestion in the area.
The wreck involves four passenger cars and two semi-trucks, one of which lost a load of shingles all over the roadway. Two people have minor injuries, Sisk said.
They said responders are working to establish routes to divert traffic at this time.
Avoid the area if possible.
