Crews responding to grass fire threatening structures in Rusk County

RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - UPDATE: According to Crims Chapel Fire Chief Marvin Vinson, people were burning debris when it ran out of control.

Firefighters were able to prevent two mobile homes from catching fire and extinguished the flames.

Vinson said approximately two acres burned. Units from Crims Chapel, Kilgore, and New London Fire Departments responded to the scene.

Fire crews from the Crims Chapel Volunteer Fire Department are responding to a grass fire in Rusk County.

According to a Facebook post from the department, the grass fire is located in the 12000 block of CR 175N.

The post said structures are being threatened by this fire.

They ask for people to avoid the area and use caution when burning.
