VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - On Tuesday in Van Zandt County, a chase ended in a crash along the interstate.

The incident began at around 4:35 when the Wills Point Police Department was dispatched to Highway 64 near the VZCO Regional Airport. They were called regarding a welfare concern, police say.

Officers arrived and a fight ensued between the suspect and two Wills Point Officers. During the fight, the suspect fled the scene in a police unit, dragging the officer a short distance, according to a statement by police.

Multiple Van Zandt County law enforcement agencies responded as the suspect fled east on Highway 64 to I-20 East.
