GREGG COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they are investigating a death in the East Mountain area.

According to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, they are investigating the death of two people in the 300 block of Coulter Road just off of FM 1844.

Lt. Josh Tubb with the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office said the call came in at around 12:47 asking for a welfare check on a person at that address. The deputy who responded found the deceased people, who have not been identified, and called in for supervisors and investigators to come to the scene. They arrived at 2 p.m.

The district attorney and an assistant district attorney came in to assist. Later, a justice of the peace arrived. The bodies were then sent to a medical examiner for autopsy. Tubb said it will be days, or even weeks, depending upon the turnaround time of the examiner.

Investigators were spotted on the scene in hazmat suits. Autopsies have been ordered.

Lt. Tubb asked that " everyone lift their thoughts and prayers, you know, we haven’t released the identity of anybody, but we’re asking everyone to pray for the family of the two individuals who were deceased at this location."
