East Texas Ag News: This week’s cattle and hay numbers

TYLER, Texas (KLTV/KTRE) - Here are the latest numbers for cattle and hay producers.

This is according to the East Texas Livestock Market report. It says today’s feeder calf futures closed extremely strong due to the corn futures closing down due to a positive weather report.

However, there is not a market comparison because there wasn’t a report issued last week due to the fourth of July holiday.

The strong board closing created more buyer interest and a stronger set of figures for all classes of calves.

Slaughter prices also reflected good demand as the slaughter cows and bulls ended strong.

The USDA weekly Texas hay report says hay traded weak to 10 dollars lower compared to last week. The report also noted there was light to moderate movement across the state.

According to the Texas crop and weather report, late harvest and excessive moisture in the fields in the north, central and east regions have caused some weed issues due to the inability to get into the fields to spray.
