LIBERTY CITY, TEXAS (KLTV) - Gregg County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for a suspect following a Liberty City bank robbery.
About 9:35 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to the First National Bank at FM 1252 and Old Kilgore Highway.
The perimeter that was set up has been collapsed, and law enforcement officers are no longer actively searching for the suspect. Officers are still investigating inside the bank.
Lt. Joshua Tubb, a spokesman for the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, said during an East Texas Now interview that they got the call at 9:11 a.m. Friday, and a patrol unit got there at 9:14 a.m. Two minutes later, deputies were setting up a perimeter, Tubb said.
At this time, investigators are still gathering information, Tubb said.
However, what they know at this time is that the suspect was described a man who is about 6 feet tall. He was wearing jeans and a light denim jacket with a dark-colored hoodie. Tubb said the suspect also had a dark blue or black hat and light-colored shoes on. The man was also allegedly wearing mechanic gloves.
The suspect brandished a gun inside the bank, and he was carrying a bag with a stripe, Tubb said.
Investigators are asking anyone with any information to call the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.
Tubb said this is the same time the bank has reported a robbery.
KLTV has a crew at the scene and will provide updates as they become available.
