Alerts, warnings issued for East Texas counties

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - As a storm system moves through East Texas, weather watches and warnings will be issued.

A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning.

Multiple tornadoes reportedly touched down in East Texas. There are reports at least one touched down in the Canton area and another in Quitman. See active storm and flood warnings below.

A command center will be set up in Canton at Dallas Street (Highway 64) and Highway 19.

As of 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oncor crews were still working to restore power in downtown Canton. The Salvation Army has set up a canteen truck there as well.

7:54 p.m. - Flood warnings continue in Angelina, Cherokee and Nacogdoches counties through 1 p.m. June 3 as rivers continue to rise. River flood warnings are also in place for Houston, Polk, Trinity and Tyler counties until further notice.

6:56 p.m. - All Tornado warnings have expired or been canceled. Several counties remain under a Tornado Watch until 1 a.m.

6:52 p.m. - Tornado Watch continues through 1 a.m. for the following counties: Bowie; Camp; Cass; Franklin; Morris; Red River; Smith; Titus; Upshur; Wood.

6:15 p.m.- Tornado Watch extended until 1 a.m. for the following counties: Bowie, Camp, Cass, Franklin, Morris, Red River, Smith, Titus, Upshur and Wood Counties.

6:14 p.m. -Tornado Warning continues for Wood County until 6:30 p.m., canceled for Smith County

6:05 p.m. The Winnsboro Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the storm siren near the Winnsboro was struck by lightning earlier Wednesday and is not working. The post states, "If we need to sound the sirens again, it will not work. Please take necessary precautions. Two of their three phones lines are also reported to be down.

6:01 p.m. - Tornado warning for Kaufman, Van Zandt counties through 6:45 p.m.

5:38 p.m. - Tornado warning for NW Smith and Wood counties through 6:30 p.m.

5:30 p.m. - Tornado warning for Camp, Titus, Upshur, Wood counties through 6:15 p.m.

4:37 p.m. - Tornado warning for Camp; Franklin; Titus; Wood counties through 5:15 p.m.

4:25 p.m. - Tornado warning for Kaufman, Van Zandt counties through 5:15 p.m.

4:15 p.m. - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Henderson; Kaufman; Van Zandt counties through 5:15 p.m.

3:59 p.m. - Tornado warning extended for Wood County until 4:45 p.m., warning cancelled for Smith County.

3:58 p.m. - Tornado warning extended for Rains and Van Zandt counties through 4:15 p.m.

3:55 p.m. - Tornado warning extended for Smith, Wood counties through 4 p.m.

3:35 p.m. - Tornado warning issued for Wood and Smith counties through 4 p.m.

3:20 p.m. - Flash Flood Watch in effect for Bowie, Camp, Cass, Franklin, Morris, Red River, Titus, Upshur and Wood counties.

3:00 p.m. - Tornado warning issued for Rains and Van Zandt County until 3:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the following counties until 8 p.m.:

  • Red River
  • Smith
  • Titus
  • Upshur
  • Wood
